May Recap
I write monthly personal recaps for myself, mainly filled with cute pictures of my son, but I figured it would be fun to write public recaps about what’s captured my attention each month. Are we already 30% into June? Yes, but shh!! I mentioned in my last post that I’m growing a new human1 and no one congratulated me, so I’m saying it AGAIN! Cut me some slack!
One interesting thing is that most of the microinfluencers that I follow have gone offline. They used to post weekly, and most of them have stopped posting entirely in 2026. I think this is a sign that I need to get offline more. Who are your favorite people to follow and why?
Creators I like:
Camryn Glackin - I don’t have a TikTok account, but I still like to peruse. She lives in Bird Rock, and I used to watch her content and long to be back in San Diego. I love being back!!
The Beyar Sisters - Three sisters who share wellness tips. They used to put out a weekly podcast, but it’s been crickets lately!
Ari Lee - The Australian content creator I mentioned during my podcast episode with Hannah.
New to me:
Hayley Rawle - YouTube fed me her videos after I binged The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. She’s an ex-Mormon, and I really enjoy her reflections on leaving the church.
Clare Stephens - She is a twin and works for Mamamia Out Loud, which is apparently a big deal in Australia. I like their podcast!
Snark Bait Podcast - Substack keeps suggesting that I follow writers who used to write for C&C (Leslie Stephens and kelly johnson). I was like, "What the heck is C&C?” My first thought was the T-shirt brand that Lauren Conrad used to wear on Laguna Beach. However, apparently it stands for “Cupcakes and Cashmere.” This is a blog run by Emily Schuman. I had never heard of her, so I looked her up and found this podcast episode about her. It’s not nice to admit, but I enjoy lurking on a Reddit snark page now and then. My secret fascination is with Caila Quinn from Ben Higgins ’ season of The Bachelor. Anyway, apparently, one of the creators of the Snark Bait Podcast could be featured on her own show because of her shady Twitter past. I find her somewhat difficult to listen to, but I am not online enough to know all of the pop culture tea, so I appreciate their recaps.
One small thing I love doing:
I add photos to an album each month (ex: May 2026) and then I make a “highlight video” on Google Photos and put each month into an annual album. It takes my “live” photos and makes them into little videos and strings them together. So I have a monthly video with 50 live photos. It brings me joy and makes me less afraid of the years of unorganized photos I have. I went all the way back through to 2018 (when I first got a phone that does “live” photos). It was a lot of effort, but I like watching these videos!
Here’s an example I made from the flowers on my daily walk:
Reading: I read 4 books in May, which is…fine. Nothing was inspiring. Here are my Goodreads reviews. Share recs if you have any!
Watching;
Hacks is over. I found the finale underwhelming. What do you think of Hannah Einbinder’s take? I enjoyed her HBO special!
My husband has never heard of Subway Takes!! We are on different internetz!!
Here are some of my takes:
Selena Gomez is the most overrated celebrity.
Lawns should be illegal.
All toilets should be bidets.
Everything Rihanna wears is ugly.
TTFN!
I am currently in what I call “my Humpty Dumpty era.” I keep trying to tie something around my waist because Janelle Taylor says it’ll make me look more fashionable. However, I always still look like a misshapen egg.

we promise we’ll be back!!!!! kinda in the middle of a midlife business crisis at the moment hahaha
I love this monthly photo album idea! It feels like a manageable (and fun!) way to curate the overwhelming number of compounding photos on my phone, and a beautiful way to celebrate the month just lived. Thank you for the idea!
