I love reading birth stories, and I laughed out loud at the drugs song being on your playlist!

Please tell me postbirth your sweet little guy is still here?

I love birth stories too!

And OMG - I should add a disclaimer at the top! I didn't mean for it to be so foreboding...

Lil man is alive and well!! He's thriving. He just had rough start.

What a wild ride! I love hearing the details. I was so surprised to see that they discouraged you from going to the hospital. Is it hard to get admitted at the last minute? Or were they just trying to stick to your original plan?

The latter! I knew I would ask for the epidural when labor actually started even though the plan was always to have a home birth. I DID NOT want to go to the hospital. The plan was always to ignore whatever I said in labor because I really wanted the home birth experience. I was SHOCKED at how much I meant it when I begged for a hospital birth. Labor is so HARD! I am sooo happy that we didn't end up going to the hospital for his birth (despite what I said in the moment haha)

That makes sense, and I've heard the same from other women! Basically like "W.T.F." Glad they didn't listen to you, ahah.

Thanks so much for sharing this and I really enjoyed it. Really appreciated the theme (or at least what I perceived as a theme) of unpredictability and the ebbs and flows of navigating the unexpected even though you had a plan. Also liked your sense of humor and self-awareness throughout the post. I hope you are doing as well as possible now (:
